Mechanical Seed Drill Machine

The CANSA Mechanical Seed Drill Machine is a reliable, robust seeding implement designed for cereals and small grains including wheat, barley, sorghum, oats, and millet. Using a proven mechanical metering system, the CANSA seed drill delivers consistent seed rates across the full working width — ensuring even establishment and reducing input waste on Kenyan arable farms. The drill features a central seed hopper with individual seed tubes feeding directly to coulter openers, placing seed at a uniform depth in a prepared seedbed. Seeding rate is adjusted via a simple gear calibration system, allowing rapid changes between different crops and target plant populations without specialist tools.AWL supplies and supports the CANSA mechanical seed drill in Kenya, with full technical backup from our Nakuru and Eldoret branches and genuine spare parts available on demand.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The CANSA mechanical seed drill is designed for small-grain cereals including wheat, barley, sorghum, oats, millet, and similar seeds. It is not designed for large seeds like maize — use the CANSA pneumatic precision seeder for those crops.

Seed rate is adjusted by changing the drive gear ratio on the metering unit. A calibration chart in the operator manual guides you through settings for different crops and target kg/ha rates.

Please contact AWL to confirm whether the specific model available has a combined seed and fertiliser hopper. Some configurations support simultaneous seed and granular fertiliser placement.

The CANSA mechanical seed drill performs best in a well-prepared, firm seedbed. Secondary tillage with a power harrow or disc harrow prior to drilling is recommended for optimal seed-to-soil contact.

The CANSA mechanical seed drill is available in working widths from 2.5 to 3.5 metres to suit different farm scales. Contact AWL to confirm available configurations and delivery timeframes.
