Land Preparation — AWL Kenya

Landforce DH Heavy Hydraulic Disc Harrow

The Landforce DH Heavy Hydraulic Disc Harrow is a large-frame, hydraulically folding disc harrow designed for primary and secondary tillage on large commercial farms and arable operations in Kenya. With 620 mm discs and hydraulic wing folding for compact road transport, the DH Heavy is built for high-throughput seasonal tillage programmes across wide arable blocks.Available in configurations from 28 to 48 discs covering 4.0 to 8.0 m working widths, the DH Heavy requires 120–200 HP and Cat. III linkage to deliver its full depth and coverage capability. Large-diameter 620 mm discs penetrate hard soils and handle heavy crop residues with ease, making the DH Heavy the implement of choice for land preparation before maize, wheat, sugarcane, and other commercial crops in Kenya.AWL is the authorised Kenyan dealer for Landforce implements, with disc harrows available for inspection and sale through our Nakuru and Eldoret branches.

What sets it apart

Built to get more done per pass

Fine Seedbed in One Pass

Landforce disc harrows and offset ploughs break, turn, and level soil in a single field pass — saving fuel and operator time.

Heavy-Duty Robusto Build

Landforce's Robusto frame construction uses thick-wall steel and hardened disc blades rated for East Africa's tough laterite and black cotton soils.

Residue Incorporation

Aggressive disc angles effectively chop and incorporate crop residue, improving soil organic matter and reducing disease carryover.

Variable Working Width

Adjustable disc spacing and working width settings let operators match tool width to tractor HP and field conditions.

Fuel-Efficient Operation

Optimised disc geometry reduces soil resistance and tractor fuel consumption during primary and secondary tillage operations.

Proven Field Durability

Hardened steel discs, sealed hub bearings, and reinforced frame sections deliver multi-season reliability in Kenyan field conditions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The DH Heavy uses larger 620 mm discs, covers wider working widths (4.0–8.0 m), requires more power (120–200 HP), and is designed for primary tillage on large farms. The DH Medium uses 510 mm discs, is narrower (2.5–5.0 m), requires less power (80–140 HP), and is suited to secondary tillage on medium-scale farms.

The smallest DH Heavy configurations (28 disc, 4.0 m) require at least 120 HP with Cat. III linkage. Larger configurations (48 disc, 8.0 m) need up to 200 HP. Under-powered tractors will not maintain penetration depth in hard conditions.

Yes. The hydraulic wing folding requires a single acting tractor hydraulic spool valve. This is standard on most commercial tractors in the 120–200 HP range.

Disc gang bearings should be greased every 8 operating hours, or as specified in the Landforce operator manual. AWL can supply appropriate grease and servicing guidance.

AWL stocks key wear items for Landforce disc harrows including disc blades, bearings, scrapers, and gang bolts in Nairobi. Contact our parts team for availability and bulk pricing.
