A pneumatic seeder uses a vacuum to pick and place individual seeds with near-perfect accuracy, eliminating doubles and blanks. Mechanical planters use finger or cell-wheel mechanisms which are effective but less precise at higher speeds.
The CANSA pneumatic precision seeder handles maize, sunflower, soybean, sorghum, cotton, and other medium-to-large row crop seeds. Seed plates are interchangeable for different crop types.
The axe-type disc coulter is designed to cut through light surface residues and work in minimum-till conditions. For very heavy residue or completely un-tilled ground, soil disturbance may need management.
Row units can be repositioned along the toolbar to set the desired row spacing, typically in increments matching standard Kenyan crop spacings of 60–90 cm.
