Land Preparation — AWL Kenya

Landforce CV Spring Heavy Cultivator

The Landforce CV Spring Heavy Cultivator is a multi-purpose secondary tillage implement fitted with spring-loaded tines that provide both effective soil working and built-in obstacle protection. Used for secondary tillage, weed control, and crop residue incorporation, the CV series delivers flexible, adaptable performance across a wide range of Kenyan soil and crop conditions.Spring-loaded tines flex over embedded stones and roots, reducing tine breakage and shock loads on the tractor and implement frame. The tine vibration also improves soil fragmentation and aeration compared to rigid tine cultivators. Working width options from 2.5 to 5.0 m and power requirements from 60 to 120 HP cover a broad range of farm scales from medium to commercial.AWL is the authorised Landforce dealer in Kenya, offering the full implement range with genuine spare parts and technical backup from our Nakuru and Eldoret branches.

What sets it apart

Built to get more done per pass

Fine Seedbed in One Pass

Landforce disc harrows and offset ploughs break, turn, and level soil in a single field pass — saving fuel and operator time.

Heavy-Duty Robusto Build

Landforce's Robusto frame construction uses thick-wall steel and hardened disc blades rated for East Africa's tough laterite and black cotton soils.

Residue Incorporation

Aggressive disc angles effectively chop and incorporate crop residue, improving soil organic matter and reducing disease carryover.

Variable Working Width

Adjustable disc spacing and working width settings let operators match tool width to tractor HP and field conditions.

Fuel-Efficient Operation

Optimised disc geometry reduces soil resistance and tractor fuel consumption during primary and secondary tillage operations.

Proven Field Durability

Hardened steel discs, sealed hub bearings, and reinforced frame sections deliver multi-season reliability in Kenyan field conditions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Spring-loaded tines flex on contact with stones, roots, and compacted areas, then spring back to the working position. Rigid tines cannot flex, so they are more prone to breakage in stony conditions and transmit higher shock loads to the tractor.

The Landforce CV spring cultivator can work efficiently at 8–14 km/h. Higher speeds improve tine vibration and soil fragmentation. Working too slowly reduces the spring-tine advantage versus rigid alternatives.

Yes. Spring tine cultivators are effective for pre-emergence and early post-emergence weed control in arable crops. The vibrating tines uproot weed seedlings and leave them on the surface to desiccate.

Typically the CV cultivator is used for one to two passes as secondary tillage after primary ripping or disc harrowing. For fine seedbed production, a power harrow or light disc pass may follow.

Yes. Reversible and replaceable tine points for the Landforce CV series are stocked by AWL in Nairobi. The reversible design doubles point life before replacement is needed.
