Frequently asked questions
The DH Medium in its 2.5–3.5 m configurations is well suited to farms of 50–300 hectares operating in the 80–120 HP tractor range. Wider configurations (4.0–5.0 m) suit larger operations up to 500 ha.
The 510 mm discs will incorporate light to moderate maize residues. For very heavy standing stalks, a first pass with a residue chopper or disc mower is recommended before disc harrowing.
Bearing life depends on soil conditions and maintenance. Annual inspection is recommended; bearings in sandy or gritty soils typically need replacement every 2–3 seasons. AWL stocks replacement bearings in Nairobi.
The disc angle (gang angle) is factory set to balance penetration and soil throw. Some models allow field adjustment. Contact AWL for specifications on the current DH Medium configuration available in Kenya.
Yes, in lighter soil conditions or on previously cultivated land, the DH Medium can be used for primary tillage. In harder or heavier soils, it is better suited to secondary tillage following a subsoiler or chisel plough.
